Patient Safety Awards 2010 – winners announced
08 February 2010: With over 500 guests present, the best in patient safety were rewarded on Friday 5 February at the inaugural Patient Safety Awards at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. The awards celebrated the excellence in an area which arguably presents one of the greatest challenges for modern healthcare.

With over 350 entries, the judges were impressed by the quality and commitment to patient safety evident in many health service providers. Alastair McLellan, Nursing Times editor said “Each one of our judging panels – filled with brightest minds in patient safety – found their powers of determination being tested again and again. The 70 shortlisted organisations represented in this room constitute the very best of those entries – and ever one can be very proud of their presence here tonight.”
The evening was filled with celebrations recognising the successes of patient safety which is finally starting to become a mainstream concern in the health service. Those rewarded on the night are those who have taken on a hard task in trying to improve patient safety. With Alastair McLellan commenting “They – you – are pioneers on a particularly taxing trail”
