23 September 2009: UK clinical software specialist, Clinical Solutions, has partnered with HealthNet Global Private Ltd to provide ‘HealthCall’, the first dedicated helpline for “H1N1 Swine Flu Triage” in India.
The Swine Flu helpline, run by Apollo Hospitals and powered by Clinical Solutions IntefleCS™ Health Watch, the same technology selected to support the UK's National Pandemic Flu Service, was inaugurated recently in Madurai, by Union Minister M K Azhagiri. This helpline provides information and advice on the best route of care for citizens, in Madurai and across the state of Tamil Nadu, suffering from the symptoms of the H1N1 virus.
Mr.Charles Antony, CEO of HealthNet Global, comments, “The healthcare challenges facing India are unique – with the increasing gap between demand and supply of healthcare facilities and personnel, we need a paradigm-shift to bridge this gap. Our HealthCall solution creates a digital healthcare platform using Healthcare-IT-Telecom convergence, thereby allowing governments to improve their reach while providing quality services at an optimal cost.”
John Stevens, director at Clinical Solutions adds “We have high hopes for this partnership. By combining our technology and clinical expertise with the knowledge and experience of a local specialist, we are confident that we can help to drive change and improved access to reliable health information and advice for all citizens of India”
Clinical Solutions and HealthNet Global, a healthcare technology company based in Hyderabad, will continue to work together to develop solutions that support the Government’s initiatives to improve healthcare delivery across the sub-continent. Currently 70 per cent of the population of India live in rural areas while 70 per cent of healthcare services are located in urban centres. In order to address this imbalance, this partnership has been formed to develop technologies that will offer equality in healthcare information and access to healthcare services to the rural population of India, where there are shortages of healthcare professionals and restricted health advice.
HealthNet Global is part of the India Hospital Corporation, the largest private hospital group in India.
