24 February 2009: Clinical software specialist Clinical Solutions is launching a group of web-based tools for symptom assessment, health information and public health incident management. The new offerings, branded IntefleCS™, will help healthcare professionals, governments and citizens safely and consistently assess symptoms and direct them to the most appropriate level of care.

From an organisational perspective, the new IntefleCS™ online tools aim to drive a more efficient management of resources and alleviate pressure on emergency and primary healthcare services.

“Using our IntefleCS™ Health Watch tool we are already working alongside a number of healthcare provider organisation helping to deliver a multi-channel pandemic services. Such services will provide web and telephony based assessment, direction of care, advice and guidance and antiviral allocation to the public in the unlikely event of an outbreak of avian flu or other public health incidents.”

At a time when individuals are increasingly looking online to assess their symptoms and seek health information, IntefleCS™ offers a range of resources built on current and approved clinical content for use by healthcare organisations and the general public.

Mr Craven adds, “A recent study by Microsoft (1) into health-related web-searches reveals that a third of people searching the internet for health-related issues over-estimate the severity of their ailment. We have recognised the need for accurate, reliable and trusted tools and information to help curb misuse of more expensive and over-stretched health service. IntefleCS™ Symptom Enquirer and IntefleCS™ Health Educator, deliver on-demand symptom assessment and health information to users on the web.”
